How do you make homemade dog food?

Saturday, March 21st, 2009
Aaron asked:

I am pretty satisfied with commercial dog food and I have no problem sticking with it, but I would just like to know how to make nutritional homemade dog food. My dogs are a golden retriever, beagle, and dachshund if that information is needed. I would like advice also, like what supplements to put in the food, and the right portions, and a professional website would be the best. I don’t really want just homemade dog food that isn’t any better than commercial dog food. Please help out. Thanks.

What is the best dog food to feed my baby male Yorkie?

Saturday, February 7th, 2009
just the one asked:

I am going to pick up my Yorkie for the first time on Friday. I can’t wait to get him home, but I am also concerned on what type of food to give him. I want my puppy to be healthy and happy but I want hime to also find his food tasty..and not nasty like most healthy dog foods. The breeder I bought him from has been feeding him Beniful. But he dosen’t particularly like it. Any suggestions on a healthy tasty dog food for puppys?
What does your puppy eat and enjoy?

P.S. I also want to give him treats, I figured I would give him fruitloops as a special treat since yorkies are prone to low-blood sugar….is this a good idea? or should i find something else for him?

Any other information on how to keep my puppy healthy and happy is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Oh yeah I am 15 and getting him for my birthday!

How much dog food do you feed a jack russell and rat terrier?

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008
khrissy asked:

I have 2 dogs, a jack russell and a rat terrier. We used to always make sure there was food in there bowels at all times. But then the jack russell started to gain a ton of weight. Now we follow the back of the dog food bag guideline. It is premium dog food. My dogs get normal activity, but now they act like they’re starving, is this normal? My dogs are healthy otherwise.

ArmyMpsWife asked:

I have a pit bull, and im not sure if its just the breed or my dog, he doesnt get fed people food. Ive tried a few dog food brands (pedigree dry and wet food and science diet) and he farts SO much. Hes an indoor dog so the farting is an issue when i have guests over for dinner. Anyone have any suggestions?
He and my husband are the loves of my life. Hes our baby and keeps me from feeling lonely while my husband is in Iraq. Money isnt an issue. I just dont want him not feeling well. Im sure hes not very comfortable feeling gassy all the time :)

How do Cats and Dogs know which is cat food and which is dog food?

Friday, December 5th, 2008
Aneleh asked:

I have 2 cats and three dogs. One night, I ran out of cat food (the dry type) and my cats were hungry. So since I had dog food only and the shops were closed, I gave them dog kibbles. They’re more or less of the same shape and size and are made of the same ingredients - chicken. My cats took a nibble and refused the rest of the bowl, preferring to go hungry than eat dog food. The next day, i got them a fresh pack of made-for-cats kibbles and they immediately dived in and ate up. How come my cats knew what I gave them wasn’t cat food?

I also know of dogs that won’t eat cat food for the long run (not mine though, cos they’re pigs and will eat anything).

It would be good if a pet food manufacturer can answer this question. Is there some special ingredient you put in cat and dog food that makes cats and dogs know which kibbles is who’s? Also, nowadays, dogs are eating fish too - like salmon. You can’t say it’s the ingredient. How come they know the difference?

What kind of dog food has the largest pieces?

Sunday, November 30th, 2008
( -_- ) asked:

So our dog eats his food crazy fast. And he doesn’t like to chew it, he just swallows it. So we are looking for big pieces that he has to chew. The biggest I’ve found so far is Science Diet large breed dog food. They are sphere pieces that are maybe like 3/4 of an inch diameter. He chews maybe half and swallows the rest. It’s definitely better than before, but still not great. Is there a dog food that has really big pieces so dogs have to chew it? Thanks.
